Smiling student
We know you love to study, but if you’ve already got the skills, why learn twice?

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may allow you to get recognition for skills and knowledge you already have.

This includes any course completed at any TAFE or other Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), in the workplace or through life experiences.

You can apply for recognition at any time during your course. You don't have to study the units in your course for which you receive Recognition. Advanced standing is granted for these units and counts toward your course completion.

You can find unit guides on the website. You then prepare evidence to show that you already have the skills and knowledge of the units.
Download our Career Pathways booklet to find out what courses you can do in your chosen field of study, discover what qualifications you may gain Recognition of Prior Learning for based on your current or most recent job, or find out what course you can do next.

There is information about the process of Recognition on our FAQs page.

If you are already enrolled and studying, you won’t pay an extra fee to apply for RPL. However, some students may have their fees reduced based on approved RPL or credit transfer.

If you think you may qualify for a whole course by Recognition, you can apply for 100% Recognition. Fees are payable for this service.

Recognition can be gained if you provide evidence to show that your study, work or life experience has helped you to learn the full range of skills and knowledge of a module or unit.

Contact us if you have any questions about applying for recognition, or talk to your Head Teacher or Course Co-ordinator.
