What is a TOP Course?
These are a range of High Demand TVET Courses available outside normal TVET delivery patterns.
Why do a TOP Course?
- So you don't miss any school time or lessons (except TOP Block)
- Reduces your workload at school
- May allow you to do a course you may otherwise NOT be able to access due to limited intake
- Gain a nationally recognised credential
- Use your TOP units as credit if you study at TAFE in the future
- Learn in an adult environment
When are TOP Courses available?
- TOP Hols = This can be any combination of School Holiday Blocks but generally are the last two weeks of
- Christmas Holidays, one full week Easter Holidays and one full week July Holidays
- TOP Weekend = Saturday delivery of between 4 - 8hrs (excludes any holiday breaks)
- TOP Nights = 4.30pm - 8.30pm on a weeknight for 30 weeks (excluding holiday breaks)
- TOP Block = Outdoor Recreation only - ten days residential
- TOP Combo = This is a combination of weekly attendance plus attendance in School Holiday Blocks
Do TOP Courses contribute to HSC units of Credit?
- Yes, a minimum of 2 HSC units of credit in either the preliminary or HSC year
Do all BOS requirements apply?
- Yes, all standard BOS requirement apply
What is required of TOP Students?
Students are required to:
- arrive on time and remain until the conclusion of the class
attend class regularly
- bring the necessary books and/or equipment and/or clothing to class
comply with OH&S practices
- sit for assessments on the nominated date or seek approval to extend the due date
- hand in all assignments by the due date or seek approval to extend the due date
- plan activities so that TAFE study, school study and other activities can be achieved
- follow written and spoken directions
- stay on task
- treat other students and staff with respect and courtesy
- refrain from inappropriate behaviour such as swearing, littering, harassment, stealing, damaging or misusing property, and/or being under the influence of drugs or alcohol
