International Tertiary Qualifications

You need to meet the entry requirements of a TAFE Course before you can enrol in a course. Find out more about Entry Requirements for Overseas Students on this page.

You may already have gained the skills and knowledge of some modules in your TAFE NSW course, by study overseas.

If you hold relevant qualifications gained overseas, TAFE NSW will assess them at your request when you are enrolled in a course. Your translated documents, and any information you can give us about the content of your studies, will be used for the assessment. You can also tell us about any work you have done. If you cannot provide sufficient documentation, you may be able to do a challenge activity or exit test to demonstrate your skills.

This is called Recognition of Prior Learning, or RPL and you can read more about this at our Recognition page. Ask the Recognition Coordinator, the Multicultural Coordinator or a student counsellor at any Hunter Institute campus.

Australian Education International, formerly known as NOOSR, has a useful website with information for holders of overseas qualifications.

The Multicultural Programs Unit of TAFE NSW has produced a booklet mapping overseas secondary qualifications to New South Wales secondary qualification levels.  Contact us for information about your secondary qualifications.
