There are a number of scholarships and awards available to TAFE students
 
Encouragement Awards
The Encouragement Awards were established to provide financial support and encouragement to students to assist with the completion of their education or to enable further education. Encouragement Awards are valued at $500 each.
 
Foundation Encouragement Awards are presented each semester in the following categories:
• Adult (over 19 years)
• Youth (under 19 years)
• Indigenous
• Kaiyu - specifically for students living with a mental health illness or studying in the sector
• HunterNet - specifically for trade students

Are you enrolled or planning to enrol in a course delivered by TAFE NSW in the Hunter and Central Coast during 2017? Did you know that you may be eligible to apply for an Award or Scholarship to assist with payment of course fees and course related expenses?
 
Bean Counters Pathway Scholarship

Enrolled in Certificate IV in Accounting at Newcastle Campus.
 
Bean Counters ADA Scholarship
Enrolled in the Associate Degree of Accounting at Newcastle Campus.
 
Crowne Plaza Scholarships
Enrolled in the Diploma of Events or Diploma of Hospitality.
 
Education Support Scholarship
Enrolled with TAFE NSW in 2017 in the Upper Hunter.
 
Encouragement Awards
Enrolled at TAFE NSW and in need of financial support or encouragement.
 
KU Children's Services Prize
For students in their second year Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care at either Glendale or Ourimbah Campus.
Graduates of the Mining Skills Centre apprenticeship course or Glencore Apprenticeship Course delivered by the Mining Skills Centre at Muswellbrook Campus.
 
Newcastle Lord Mayor's Art Scholarship & Encouragement Awards
Enrolled in a course related to art, music, drama, dance or writing.
 
Sonia Walkom Memorial Scholarship
Enrolled in Certificate IV in Property Services (Real Estate) at Newcastle Campus.
 
Study Assistance Scholarship
Enrolled with TAFE NSW across the Hunter and Central Coast in 2017.
 
Together Today Scholarship
Enrolled in one of the following courses at Newcastle Campus: Diploma of Sustainability; Diploma of Environmental Monitoring and Technology; Advanced Diploma of Applied Environmental Management; or Associate Degree of Applied Engineering (Renewable Energy Technologies).
 
Zonta Club of Hunter Newcastle Scholarship
Enrolled in one of the following courses at Glendale Campus: Certificate III in Children's Services; Certificate IV in Ageing Support; Certificate IV in Disability; Certificate IV in Leisure and Health; or Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance.

Scholarships and Awards OPENING SOON

Anthony Carter Memorial Scholarship
For students in the second year of a panelbeating apprenticeship.
 
Barker Maritime Scholarship
Open to all employees of organisations who utilise the Port of Newcastle to assist with the advancement of their career within the Maritime industry.
 
Brett Graham Scholarship
Open to second or third year cookery apprentices who are completing or have completed Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
 
Carol Duval Memorial Award for Painting
Enrolled at Newcastle Art School and has completed the first year Fine Arts course.
 
Central Coast Campus Friends Award
Open to Central Coast residents studying at Gosford, Ourimbah or Wyong campuses.
 
HMA Board TAFE Scholarships
Enrolled in a course directly relating to Manufacturing.

Josh Woolfson Memorial Encouragement Award
Enrolled in a post-trade Electrotechnology qualification.
 
Indigenous Scholarships
Students living or studying in the Newcastle Local Government Area who recognise as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
 
Kaiyu Achievement Award
Enrolled in the Diploma of Mental Health or Diploma of Alcohol and Other Drugs.
 
Mark Foster Memorial Award
Enrolled in either Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management or Certificate III in Natural Area Restoration at a Central Coast Campus.
 
Moreen Edith Scholarship
Enrolled in the Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Technology.
 

Neville Sawyer Business Scholarship
Open to graduates and potential graduates of the Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses in Engineering, Science and Information Technology fields to complete the Advanced Diploma of Management (or equivalent).
 
Reg Russom Drawing Prize & Encouragement Award
Open to emerging artists who reside in the Hunter to submit a drawing of the human figure.
 
Trevor Drayton Scholarships
Enrolled in either a Culinary, Hospitality or Winemaking associated course, or have competed training with TAFE NSW within the last five years.

Australian Overseas Foundation Scholarship

Barrington Roberts Award
For Tourism, Travel and Hospitality students in TAFE NSW.
 
Financial assistance to apprentices in NSW
 
Centrelink Student Start-up Scholarship
Help for the upfront cost of study for eligible higher education students.
 
Open to students from Year 10 through to TAFE and University who reside in the Cessnock local government area.
 
 
Jobs of Tomorrow Scholarships
NSW Government scholarship to encourage skills development in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
 
 
Recognise outstanding achievement in the vocational education and training sector.
 
Open to TAFE NSW Commercial Cookery students to train overseas to broaden their education and strive for excellence.

Puggy Hunter Memorial Scholarship Scheme​
via the Australian College of Nursing (ACN). Available to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people who are studying a course in ATSI health work, allied health, dentistry/oral health, medicine, midwifery or nursing. 
 
Rheem Plumbing Grants
This scholarship is for those students committed to their plumbing apprenticeship but who are starting to feel the financial strain.
 
Royal Agricultural Society VET Scholarships
Supports individuals in NSW who demonstrate a passion for rural and commitment for any career that will ensure the future success of rural and regional NSW.
 
This Scholarship celebrates community contribution and academic achievements of people in the Singleton Community.
 
Smart and Skilled Fee-Free Scholarships
A government subsidy which covers the Smart and Skilled course fee for eligible young people (aged 15-30).

 
Young Carer Bursary Programme
To increase the opportunity for young carers to remain in, or return to, education or training.
