VET FEE-HELP

Hunter TAFE
VET FEE-HELP courses for Semester 1, 2012

What is VET FEE-HELP?

VET FEE-HELP is an income contingent loan scheme for the vocational education and training (VET) sector, as part of the Higher Education Loan Program (HELP), administered through the Commonwealth Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR). VET FEE-HELP assists you as an eligible full-fee paying student to defer payment of some or all of your tuition fees for courses approved for VET FEE-HELP.

You repay this loan through the Australian taxation system when you reach the minimum income threshold for repayment published at the Study Assist website. This means you can study now to gain the qualification you need to get the new job or promotion. A 20% loan fee will be applied to the amount of VET FEE-HELP assistance provided and this loan fee will be included in your VET FEE-HELP debt.

Only Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses, Graduate Certificates and Graduate Diplomas may be approved for VET FEE-HELP. Diploma and Advanced Diploma Courses have credit transfer arrangements towards a Bachelor's Degree at university.

Am I eligible for VET FEE-HELP?

To be eligible to apply for VET FEE-HELP you must
· be an Australian citizen OR
· be the holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who will be resident in Australia for the duration of the unit of study
· provide a tax file number

What is a full-fee paying student?

Students paying the standard TAFE NSW fees are not full-fee paying students.

How do I apply?

What are my rights and responsibilities as a VET FEE-HELP student?
