Your previous TAFE NSW study can count towards your next TAFE course. In some cases, the same units may be in your new course, or they may be equivalent to the new course units. If you have studied at another TAFE NSW location, you will need to provide us with a copy of your transcript.

You might need to provide evidence to show you have maintained your skills and knowledge since doing the study.

Recent study includes courses based on National Training Packages, or under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).
Courses Prior to the Australian Qualifications Framework
For some older courses, you can apply for a Letter of AQF Equivalence saying how your old TAFE NSW course compares to a new Australian Qualification Framework (AQF) level. There is no charge for this service. For example, an old Certificate course might now be considered as equivalent in duration and depth of study to a new Diploma (Level 5) course.

A Letter of AQF Equivalence does not entitle you to claim the AQF qualification. If you wish to gain the current AQF qualification you will need to apply for formal Recognition based on your current skills and knowledge. Fees will apply.
Further information is available on the AQF Equivalence Selection Table.
Credit Transfer
Credit Transfer transfers results from one TAFE NSW course to another. If you have completed units or courses with TAFE NSW since about 2010, you may get automatic credit in your new course.

NOTE: Some older units may not transfer. The content may have changed (eg. in taxation law after the introduction of the GST) or because the unit may be too old. You can still apply for Recognition of Prior Learning by giving us more evidence.

Embedded Testamur

If you can't complete your current course, but have enough modules to finish a lower level course, you might be eligible to apply for an Embedded Testamur at a cost. You may also be eligible for an Embedded Testamur if you completed enough modules/units while studying another course in previous years.
