Functional Language Courses

TAFE NSW - Hunter Institute offers a wide range of Functional Language Courses focusing on integrating active communication skills with the grammatical structure of the language. Awareness of cross-cultural communication is also addressed as this is an important factor in language learning. These Language courses aim to provide students with the skills and strategies to achieve competencies needed to enhance successful participation in:

French
Italian
Spanish
German
Chinese
Japanese

Levels:

Level 1 and 2 provide learners with basic skills and strategies to communicate in their choosen language
Level 3 and 4 build on the skills and knowledge which are formed in level 1 and 2 courses. Learners are required to combine more difficult grammatical structures with a wider range of vocabulary.
By the time learners reach level 5 and 6 they will have a broad knowledge of the language and its customs. Students will have developed the ability to listen and speak confidently in their chosen language in a range of social and work settings.

Duration: 3 hours per week for 18 weeks

Cost: $445.00 per Level

Language for Travellers Courses

Chinese

This program provides basic language and cultural skills in Chinese for the intending traveller. It will enable travellers to appreciate and feel more comfortable in another culture throught interactive and fun activities. Meeting, greeting and finding your way in a social context will facilitate the traveller's journey.

French

This program provides basic language skills in French for the intending traveller. It is designed to enable participants to feel confident in social and cultural contexts through fund and interactive activites.

Italian

This introductory program provides language and cultural skills in Italian for the intending traveller. It will enable you to feel more comfortable and appreciate Italian culture on your journey.

Japanese

This programs provides basic language and cultural skills in Japansese for the intending traveller. It will enable travellers to appreciate and feel more comfortable in Japanese cultural ans social settings through interactive and fun activities.

Spanish

This program provides basis language and cultural skills in Spanish for the intending traveller. It will enable you to appreciate and feel more comfortable in a Spanish speaking cultural context through interavtive and fund activities.

Indonesian

This program provides basic language and cultural skills in Indonesian for the intending traveller. It will enable travellrs to appreciate and feel more comfortable in another culture through interactive and fun activies. Meeting, greeting and find your way in a social context will facilitate the journey.

German

This program provides basic language and cultural skills in German for the intending traveller. It will enable you to appreciate and feel comfortable in a German speaking cultural context through interactive and fun activities.

Duration: 2 hours per week, for 10 weeks

Cost: $295
