Hunter TAFE - Kurri Kurri Campus has been an important part of the local community since 1982 and is located on McLeod Road (off Heddon Street) Kurri Kurri. The campus is situated near the Hunter Valley Wine Country and set on 135 hectares of park and native bushland (comprising the Kurri Sand Swamp Woodland, an endangered ecological community classified under the Threatened Species Conservation Act 1995).
Kurri Kurri Campus offers a broad range of training options as sought by industry in the Hunter, including Mining, Greenkeeping, Animal Studies (including Veterinary Nursing), Horticulture, Viticulture, Hospitality and Plant & Heavy Vehicle.
The Plant and Heavy Vehicle Training Centre provides specialized training in Automotive Electrical and Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle) based on current industry requirements.
The campus boasts state-of-the-art Horticultural and Viticulture facilities with a range of practical outdoor training areas. Course options include Chainsaw Operations, Floristry, Arboriculture, Landscape Design/Construction, Parks & Gardens, Production Horticulture/Nursery (including Viticulture for wine production) and Sports Turf Management.
The wine and tourism industry is an integral part of the local government area. The Campus has established the Hunter Valley Hotel Academy which offers a large Conference Centre with residential accommodation available for students and Conference Centre visitors. Student learning and skill development are integrated into the operations of Accommodation and Conference Centre activities. Course options include Hospitality, Commercial Cookery, Event Management, Tourism and Outdoor Recreation.
