TAFE NSW will celebrate National Skills Week with a pop-up at Westfield Kotara next week, where it will showcase its innovative approach to high-quality education and training.
The skills pop-up is free to attend and will include more than seven different workshops that will run between 12pm to 8 pm on Thursday 31 August at Westfield Kotara’s The Rooftop.
The fun and interactive skills pop-up gives people the opportunity to get hands-on with a wide range of the training and education pathways available at TAFE NSW. Teachers will be on hand to provide one-on-one information and advice about VET courses, facilities, and career pathways.
Kicking things off, the early childhood education team will be running a fun parachute activity for kids and their families before a series of hands-on workshops, covering everything from flower crown making to brick and tile laying and a virtual reality welding experience
Every year since its inception in 2011, National Skills Week has recognised, celebrated and informed students and the wider public of the diversity, benefits and career pathways associated with Vocational Education and Training (VET).
National Skills Week celebrations embracing the theme “More Than You Know” will take place across the state from 28 August to 3 September. The events, supported by TAFE NSW, will collectively highlight our diverse course offerings, employer partnerships, world-class training, and technology.
“National Skills Week is about engaging our community,” said TAFE NSW Regional General Manager Elizabeth McGregor. “If we spark an interest in training, we can develop skills that contribute to the development of our economy and the communities in which we live.”
Whether students are looking for a career they love, skills to score a promotion at work, or a vocation change, TAFE NSW has more than 1,200 on-campus and online courses. They offer flexibility that allows students to balance their study, work and family commitments.
TAFE NSW provides skills for today’s jobs and future careers. For more information on the events taking place during National Skills Week, please visit the TAFE National Skills Week website
