Referencing

When preparing an assignment be aware that you are expected to:
  • Provide a list of references which were used in completing the work (Bibliography). This list appears at the end of your assignment.
  • Provide references in the text to any material you quote, praraphrase or summarise (In-Text Referencing).
  • The most commonly used system for referencing is the Harvard (Author-Date) Referencing System. Check with your teacher if they require you to use a different referencing system.

The following handouts on referencing provide guidelines on how to reference sources using the Harvard Referencing System.

Endnote - software for managing references and creating bibliographies is available at your Hunter Institute library. Ask library staff for more information.
