Newcastle Campus provides education in diverse subject areas - business, welfare, information technology, general and basic education, engineering and construction trades.
These areas are well represented in the Library's collection, which houses approximately 43,000 volumes and 2200 videos and DVD's. Over 30 electronic databases are also available.
Professional library staff are available to assist students in the use of the library and it's resources; as well as deliver Information Literacy programs to teach research skills.
AV Equipment
Quality laptops and data projectors can be borrowed by staff from the library. A range of equipment is also available for in library usage - including DVD and video players; computers; electronic whiteboards; and Smartboards.
Closed Reserve
Material which is in heavy demand, or class materials provided by teachers, are often placed in Closed Reserve. This is a special collection located on the ground floor behind the Information Desk. Material is usually limited to 2 hour use or overnight use only. Please contact staff at the Information Desk if you would like to place material on Closed Reserve.
Computers
Teachers can book small group areas including computers carrying Microsoft Office and the Internet. These areas hold 6,8, or 12 computers and are ideal for classes wishing to utilise all library resources in the one environment. Bookings can be made up to four weeks ahead. Please contact the staff at the Information Desk (x7725) if you would like to make a booking.

Inter Library Loans and Online Forms
Staff and students who require material not held by Newcastle Library can request items held in the TAFE library network by filling out an ILL form. Two items can be requested at the one time and most items arrive within 7 to 10 working days. Ask at the Information Desk for further information or simply fill in an online ILL request form. You will need your TAFEcard to do this. Other services such as placing holds on items which are currently on loan can also be done via Online Forms. Click here for all available Online Forms.
Information Literacy Sessions
A wide range of information sessions and tutorials can be organised for yourself and/or your classes. Sessions may cover basic library introductions; databse overviews; specialist database subjects - e.g. statistics, referencing and any other areas you specify for which we can customise our resources.
