Partnering Training with Older Workers (PTOW)
| Partnering - Training for Older Workers is a NSW Department of Education and Training strategy aimed at addressing the training needs of the ageing workforce in NSW by building effective links with local employers, industry and advocacy groups.
In 2008, Partnering will aim to increase training opportunities in critical skill shortage areas including those identified through the National and State Skill Shortage Lists and by State Training Centres (STC) for older unemployed or underemployed workers. All participants in the program must be 40+ years of age.
Registered Training Organisation’s eligible to submit a proposal for Partnering must be approved to delivery training under 2008 Strategic Skills Training Program (SSTP) of Approved Provider List for the NSW Training Market.
Priority will be give to Partnering proposals that focus on training that addresses skills shortages including the following identified occupation areas: |

• Personal Care
• Aged Care
• Engineering Trades
• Automotive Trades
• Electrical and Electronic Trades
• Building and Construction
• Food
• Digital technology
• Health Services |

Priority will also be given to the purchase of training that demonstrates a practical partnership arrangement with at least one employer. The employer must provide a letter of support. Employer support could include:
• willingness to participate in the recruiting of applicants for training
• willingness to offer on-the-job work experience
• confirmation of improved employment prospects in their industry for participants in the training, or
• an undertaking to provide employment or offer a traineeship on completion of training.
Training aimed at existing workers should include some unemployed participants to give all people access to training opportunities. |
