Renewable Energy

Many graduates have added the Certificate IV in Renewable Energy to an existing qualification in engineering, electrical, plumbing, building and architecture. It covers a general introduction to renewable energy systems and the principles of designing and installing and maintaining photovoltaic systems and wind energy conversion systems.

Renewable energy covers the principles of:

  • operation of renewable energy systems such as indirect solar for heating of buildings and heat storage
  • radiant solar energy used for solar hot water
  • solar space heating and photovoltaic electricity
  • wind energy
  • micro-hydro systems
  • solar biological energy
  • use and re-use of plant animal materials.

You will gain comprehensive skills and knowledge to perform consultancy duties in the areas of design, installation and maintenance of renewable energy systems and the application of energy management principles.

Graduates will play an integral role in local government, system design, installation or sales. They may be employed as a consultant, technician or small business manager in renewable energy systems.
