Newcastle is a lively port city on a breathtaking stretch of Australia's coastline, boasting wonderful beaches, favourable climate, casual lifestyle, and it is not far from Sydney. It offers all the usual city comforts, such as restaurants, cafes, parks and gardens, theatres, art galleries, shopping centres and nightclubs.

Less than one hour's drive are the internationally famous wineries of the Hunter Valley, many of them more than a century old.

The Central Coast offers spectacular scenery bounded by the Pacific Ocean, the Hawkesbury River, Lake Macquarie and the Great Dividin
g Range. It is a popular and relaxing tourist destination, with the benefits of city life without the pollution and congestion.

The Hunter/Central Coast region is an educational centre with a range of schools and colleges and a renowned university. TAFE NSW Hunter Institute is at the heart of this network.

About TAFE NSW Hunter Institute

The Hunter Institute is the largest regional Institute of TAFE in Australia and the largest provider of nationally recognised vocational education and training services in the Central Coast, Newcastle, Hunter Valley regions of New South Wales servicing a population of more than 850,000.

Through its 15 well-equipped campuses, workplace delivery and other flexible delivery modes, the Hunter Institute enrols an average of 55,000 people each year.  These students undertake courses with accreditation ranging from Statement of Attainment to Advanced Diploma and Graduate Certificate and increasingly include specialist programs delivered in, and for, industry.  High school students are also able to undertake vocational training as an integral part of their high school program.

The Hunter Institute delivers over 500 different vocational education and training courses to students across the Hunter and Central Coast. 

On offer is a spectrum of TAFE NSW courses delivered through the Institute’s six (6) faculties:

*      Arts & Media

*      Business & Computing

*      Health and Community Services

*      Industry and Natural Resources

*     Tourism and Hospitality
