TAFE NSW Hunter Institute

A TAFE NSW Course Fee applies to most TAFE NSW courses and must be paid when you enrol. Enrolment related charges include an Administration Charge (unless you qualify for an exemption).

TAFE NSW campuses will NOT ACCEPT CASH for payments in relation to enrolment. Accepted methods of payment for the Administration Charge and other related charges are EFTPOS, personal or bank cheque made payable to TAFE NSW, credit cards - Visa, MasterCard and Bankcard or Money Order made payable to TAFE NSW.

When you enrol, you will need to pay the TAFE NSW fee, unless you qualify for a fee exemption or fee concession. You will not be regard as being enrolled without the payment of, or approved exemption from, either the TAFE NSW fee or the concession fee. For further details refer to TAFE NSW Fees. 

Course Related Charges apply to each enrolment / re-enrolment in all courses other than commercial programs.  This optional charge is collected to provide you with resources that are directly used in your course of study. The charge contributes to the cost of materials and resources consumed, and assists in the replacement of equipment and tools worn or damaged during the course. The charge payable by all students (including those who qualify for a fee exemption or fee concession from TAFE NSW fees) in accordance with Hunter Institute’s Course Related Charges Guidelines. 

If your circumstances do not enable you to pay the course related charge you should discuss alternate arrangements with teaching staff.

In some cases, to successfully achieve the outcomes of a course, students may incur other additional costs (Vocational Related Costs) related to items such as texts, personal protective equipment, uniforms, tool kits. 

To undertake practical activities in some courses you may need some protective clothing and/ or  safety equipment to meet OH&S requirements. Where safety equipment is required to meet OH&S requirements, entry to some classes will be refused unless the specified protective clothing/ equipment is worn or used. 

You may be able to purchase the necessary items from the teaching section or supply your own. You will retain the items on completion of the course. 

External credentials - There may be charges for assessment and/ or issue of  certification by an organisation other than TAFE NSW. 

If your circumstances do not enable you to pay the vocational charges or the external credentials or you do not wish to participate you should discuss the implications with teaching staff.
