Glendale Trade School - Career Kick-Start -
Combine School, TAFE and Paid Employment |
|
Glendale Trade School is a partnership between Hunter TAFE, Glendale Technology High School and various industry partners. The initiative offers Years 11 and 12 students the opportunity to combine school, TAFE and paid employment in their chosen vocation as a school-based trainee which can help students kick-start their career.
The Trade School offers training in the specialist industry areas of:
- engineering
- automotive
- health services and
- electrotechnology
with all school subjects contextualised to apply to the student's vocational area of voice. If a student chooses engineering, it means their study of Maths and Science, for instance, will be geared to the engineering field by using relevent workplace tasks and examples.
Industry partners both employ and support students via industry mentors and have involvement in the curriculum delivery and assessment.
The Trade School offers a great opportunity for students to benefit from an integrated program which could result in the student obtaining their:
- HSC
- a UAI in some instances
- relevant work experience and
- a TAFE qualification.
