Intending participants should hold a qualification in the discipline area in which they intend to teach, i.e., a trade certificate or qualification at level IV is usually required. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will provide the competencies required to recognise the current skills of people, deliver training in an industry area or subject matter expertise and to conduct competency based assessment in a range of contexts. It will enable participants to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes required to competently perform the role of a skilled trainer, facilitator and assessor in the workplace and the VET sector in general.

Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is appropriate for people with advanced technical skills and a supervisory, management or teaching role. This course gives participants knowledge and skills to act appropriately as well as teach others to a higher level of understanding. Participants typically learn to develop and deliver training and assessment for individuals and small or large groups; assess the on-the-job competencies of workers; and report and record training results.
