Diploma of Remedial MassageThis course is for people who work or want to work in a remedial massage practice as a self-employed or independent practitioner or within a more comprehensive health service.

You will learn how to provide remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs. This may involve injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, and working with women and children.

People considering enrolment in remedial massage need to be aware that skills development for clinical work will require you to massage and be massaged by fellow students and that industry dress codes will apply. Massage will necessarily involve touch but will always be practised and applied in accordance with industry codes of practice and ethics. Details of the dress code will be provided to you during pre-enrolment information sessions or to enrolled students by the teacher.

ENROLLING IN FIRST AID UNITS OF COMPETENCY

If you are seeking to enrol in a First Aid unit of competency you are advised that to complete the unit you must be able to perform basic life support skills, for example control bleeding and perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). If you have a disability that would prevent you from performing required basic life support skills you are advised that you will not be able to achieve the unit of competency.

Entry Requirements

To gain entry into HLT50307 Diploma of Remedial Massage a candidate must
demonstrate competence through a recognised training program or recognition
process, in the following units of competency from the HLT40312 Certificate IV
in Massage Therapy Practice:
