This course is for people who work or want to work in a remedial massage practice as a self-employed or independent practitioner or within a more comprehensive health service.
You will learn how to provide remedial massage treatment to clients with specific needs. This may involve injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, and working with women and children.
The Health Training Package identifies fourteen (14) units of competency from the Certificate IV in Massage as prerequisite for entry to this qualification (See the Entry Requirements below). If you have not already successfully
completed these units of competency prior to enrolment in this course, you must complete these units as bridging units in the Diploma of Remedial Massage before commencing other units that are part of this course.
Contact the campus prior to enrolment for more information.
The nominal duration for this course is 1545 hours. Depending on the electives chosen and the need to complete the fourteen (14) prerequisite units of competency required by the Training Package, you will participate for between 775 and 1595 hours.
People considering enrolment in remedial massage need to be aware that skills development for clinical work will require you to massage and be massaged by fellow students and that industry dress codes will apply. Massage will necessarily involve touch but will always be practised and applied in accordance with industry codes of practice and ethics. Details of the dress code will be provided to you during pre-enrolment information sessions or to enrolled students by the teacher.
