This course is designed for experienced welders working or seeking employment
in the manufacture or repair of boiler, pressure vessel, pressure piping or
high quality welded applications.
You will develop the theory and practical skills required to meet the assessment
requirements specified in Australian Standard 1796-2001 which will (depending
upon the 1-9 welding certificate undertaken) be certified to weld high quality
applications on plain carbon and/or low alloy steel plate and pipe sections.
This course can be delivered and assessed on-the-job, off-the-job or a blend
of both options.
The duration of this program of study will vary depending on the competency
unit(s) and/or welding certificate 1-9 undertaken.
There are no formal educational requirements for entry into the units of
competency in this Statement of Attainment.
Students requiring welder certification against Australian Standard 1796 will
need to meet the entry requirements specified in Sections 2 & 3 of the standard.
It is essential the RTO teaching sections ensure these entry requirements are
met prior to enrolling students in either this Statement of Attainment 17431 or
the TAFE Plus Statement 17622 Assessment Program.
Completion of competency standards units from this course will enhance your
career progression under the Federal Metal and Engineering Industries Award.
