Hunter TAFE’s manufacturing students have been given a helping hand thanks to the Hunter Manufacturing Awards’ Board. Five students who have demonstrated a commitment to a career in engineering and manufacturing and excelled in their trade area received scholarships at the annual Hunter Manufacturing Awards held on Friday 21 October. Each student received a $2,000 scholarship to assist in furthering their career, either through the completion of additional training or purchasing high quality tools for their trade.
The awards are designed to formally recognise student achievement and provide these individuals with increased confidence and financial stability.
The Hunter Manufacturing Awards’ Board provides funding for the scholarships with final recipients chosen from a high calibre of student nominees by the Hunter TAFE Foundation. One of this year’s recipients is Zac Dalziel, a school based trainee at Wyong Trade School, employed by Eraring Energy. Zac said the scholarship would be of great assistance in ensuring that he can continue to pursue his career through an apprenticeship. “With the encouragement of both TAFE and school I have started to look at extra training to compliment my career goals in Electrotechnology and Technical Operations,” said Zac.
The 2011 Hunter Manufacturers Encouragement Scholarship recipients were:
Mitchell Bailey Certificate III Engineering, Mechanical Trade
Kristopher Bottomley Certificate III Engineering, Metal Fabrication and Welding
Rickie Carr Certificate II Engineering, Production Technology
Zac Dalziel Certificate II, Technical Support (TVET)
- Zachary Joyce Certificate III, Electrotechnology
