Furniture Making Certificate II (TVET)

Hunter TAFE offers furniture courses for people wanting to acquire the skills and knowledge required to work in the production environment in the manufacture of free-standing furniture or built-in cabinets. These furniture making classes offer education in providing on-site assistance in the installation of furniture and other fitted cabinets, including renovation of kitchens and bathrooms. You will learn about furniture making hand and power tools, measurements and calculations, woodworking and repair, occupational health and safety and communication skills. Career opportunities resulting from completion of this course include assistant cabinet maker, assistant installer of built-in cabinets, and production operator within a cabinet making enterprise. With further study and experience you may move in to furniture restoration, furniture design or even upholstery.
