Maritime Operations Certificate II

maritime studentsThis course is for HSC students who want to study maritime operations at TAFE NSW under the TVET program as part of their HSC. Hunter TAFE maritime courses are ideal for people who want to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work as a coxswain. This maritime training will teach you to take charge of vessels less than 12 metres in length and with engines up to 250kW, operating within inshore limits (up to 15 nautical miles from the coast). Students will also learn other basic skills required when working as a coxswain on a small coastal vessel such as first aid, fire fighting, safety and emergency procedures. Evidence of sea time/service on board a vessel will be required to obtain a Certificate of Competency from the state regulatory authority. This course can be a great first step in developing a marine career, perhaps working in international shipping, naval service, or offshore engineering.
