Marine Craft Construction

marine craft construction Hunter TAFE's boat building courses are for people with an interest in the design and engineering of building boats. As part of your shipwright or boat building apprenticeship, the areas of study include workplace communication, occupational health and safety, quality procedures and boat building plans, working with wood and fiberglass, plus a range of jobs specific to the marine craft industry such as aluminium boat building. The duration of this qualification may vary depending on the training pathway agreed to between the employer, employee and the training operator. A standard pathway will consist of studying (typically three years) plus additional work experience. Successful completion of this boat building course will enable you to become a skilled boat building or repairs technician.
