Surface Coal Mining (Open Cut Examiner) - Certificate IV

coal mineThis course is for people who are currently employed in a surface coal mine as an open cut examiner or have authorised access to an operational surface coal mine.

 

Throughout this course you will learn a broad range of activities from dump truck operations and safety, through to resources and legal compliance; high-level communication skills; environment and risk management systems; contribute technical solutions to non-routine problems; conduct surface shot-firing operations and monitor the output of others.

Entry Requirements

There are no formal educational requirements for entry into this course. Learners must be currently employed in, or have authorised access to an operational surface coal mine while undertaking this course. Some units in this course relating to the use of explosives require learners be 18 years old or over and have approval by the NSW Police Service to use explosives. Prior experience in the mining industry is highly recommended.
