Hunter TAFE offers building courses for people who are already in an existing apprenticeship who want to work as a builder in the residential construction industry. Enrol in this building course to learn the skills and knowledge required to coordinate the overall construction of low-rise buildings such as a house.
Units in this building training course will cover using different materials for building such as earth, wood, cob and metal, constructing a basic frame, selecting contractors, overseeing the work and its quality, and liaising with clients.
The NSW Office of Fair Trading requires you to have completed this course plus one other (across multiple disciplines such as bricklaying, carpentry and engineering) in order to be licensed as a NSW Building Contractor.
