
This Hunter TAFE horticulture course offers the practical skills needed to work in the parks and garden sector of the horticulture industry. Enrol in this horticulture training if you are employed as an apprentice or keen to enter the industry. The course will enable you to develop sound knowledge and a broad range of practical skills required to plant and care for trees, shrubs, flower beds and lawns in public and private gardens, public parks, housing estates and industrial complexes. Students will learn to establish plants, plan and establish plant displays, implement plant nutrition programs, maintain trees and shrubs, prune trees and shrubs, implement landscape maintenance programs, apply organic techniques, maintain soil fertility and provide information about plants and control weeds. Completion of this horticulture course can lead to a career as a gardener or a parks and gardens tradesperson or you can continue to study horticulture with a Horticulture (Parks and Gardens) Certificate IV.
