
Hunter TAFE offers a range of visual arts courses. Enrol in this visual arts school to learn about the practical, technical and creative skills used in a range of visual art disciplines from painting and drawing, to design, mixed media and other contemporary crafts. You'll learn to construct images following your own artistic ideas under the direction of art teachers and gain fundamental drawing, design and composition skills. History of the visual arts and contemporary crafts community will be explored as will contemporary arts and crafts practices. You'll gain practical experience in the safe use of studio-based skills and have the opportunity to prepare a portfolio for entry into further training or for employment opportunities in the visual arts industry. This TAFE visual arts course also prepares you for further study and you may be eligible to enter the Visual Arts and Contemporary Crafts Certificate IV. Career opportunities include becoming an assistant to an artist, arts related work or self-employment.
