This course is designed to improve the training undertaken by Owner
Builder permit holders. The course will provide an opportunity for the NSWFair Trading to be assured that those completing the course have
received consistent industry information relevant to the construction of a
dwelling, (which includes a house, terrace, town-house, garage,
swimming pool and certain other structures and improvements) resulting
in the applicant having a sound underpinning knowledge of the complianceissues and construction process to supervise and coordinate the
construction, alteration, repair and/or additions to a dwelling.
This course is related to a high risk industry - Building & Construction.
The owner builder's activities related to building work which may attract
a 7 year structural warranty period therefore it is critical that emphasis
is placed on the Units of Competency, the nominated text, and
assessment process which must be strictly adhered to, to ensure the
ongoing protection of the consumer.
Licensing/regulatory requirements: This course is endorsed by NSW Fair Trading as meeting the requirements for Owner Builders to complete an approved course in order for the OFT to issue an Owner Builder Permit.
