These animal studies help you to prepare and present information to the community, assist with collection management, prepare and maintain housing, plan and provide nutritional diets, monitor and maintain animal health and wellbeing, restrain and assist in moving animals, monitor animal reproduction, and provide enrichment for animals. It's essential that during this course you have access to a captive animal workplace through paid employment or significant periods of work experience. On completion you may wish to enrol in Captive Animals Certificate IV or other qualifications. Preference will be given to those who have completed the Certificate II in Animal Studies or otherwise have the relevant competencies. Preference will also be given to those either employed in the captive animal industry or who have arranged a suitable location for work placement.

Delivery Information

Students are expected to spend 1-2 days per week in a suitable captive animal facility, undertaking relevant duties in order to meet assessment requirements.

Entry Requirements

Pathways for candidates considering this qualification include: - direct entry - after achieving ACM20110 Certifcate II in Animal Studies - vocational training and/or work experience across a range of work settings. This qualification is suited to Australian Apprenticeship pathways. It is recommended that whilst undertaking this qualification, the learner have access to an captive animal workplace.
