Youth Work Diploma

Please replace this with appropriate alternate text This diploma of youth work is for those with responsibility for the development of, and the outcomes of programs and services for young people. Enrol in this youth work course to learn further skills in community work through a range of agencies and services that support the social, behavioral, health, welfare, developmental and protection needs of young people. You will advance your knowledge about community development, communication, empowerment of young people, interpretation of relevant legislation, cultural diversity and crisis management. Upon completion of this qualification you will gain advanced standing in a number of units of competency in Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses and you may be eligible for advanced standing in university qualifications. Occupational outcomes from this course include case manager, coordinator of youth and/or family services, program manager, senior case worker, senior youth worker or youth work team leader.

Entry Requirements

To gain entry into this qualification a learner must: 1. Be recognised as competent, through a recognised training program or recognition process, against the following compulsory units of competency from CHC41808 Certificate IV in Youth Work: CHCCOM403A Use targeted communication skills to build relationships CHCCS400A Work within a relevant legal and ethical framework CHCCS422A Respond holistically to client issues and refer appropriately CHCYTH401A Engage respectfully with young people CHCYTH402A Work effectively with young people in the youth work context HLTHIR403B Work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers HLTOHS300A Contribute to OHS processes OR 2. Have sufficient relevant youth sector experience and knowledge to indicate likely success at this level of qualification in a job role involving: - The application of knowledge with depth in some areas and demonstration of a broad range of technical and other skills - A wide range of tasks and roles in a variety of contexts, with complexity in the range and choices of actions required - The exercise of discretionary judgement and decision making under general guidance.
