Hunter TAFE's mental health training qualification is designed for workers who want to help people facing mental health, alcohol and drugs issues. Covering general skills such as treatment and services, counseling, referral, education and health services, the program also develops your knowledge of mental health law, advocacy and the various health issues related to alcohol and drug use and mental health. Please note those who enrol in the Apply First Aid unit must be physically able to perform basic life support skills. Upon completion of this course you will gain advanced standing in a number of other TAFE courses including Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma qualifications. You may also be eligible for advanced standing in university qualifications. Career options include alcohol and drug worker, community rehabilitation and support worker, mental health community worker and mental health rehabilitation support worker.
