First Aid for Asthma TAFE Statement

Hunter TAFEThis course is for people who wish to develop knowledge and skills required to provide first aid for asthma and assist in the self administration of reliever medications.

Participants will include workers whose job roles involve caring for and supervision of people who may exhibit asthma symptoms, and members of the community with similar responsibilities who also would like to develop skills to support asthma sufferers.

The course will provide you with the ability to:
· understand the effects of asthma and current asthma management strategies
· recognise signs and symptoms of an asthma attack
· provide first aid in line with the Asthma First Aid Plan
· assist with administration of asthma medications
· communicate details of the incident.
