Transport and Distribution (Coastal Maritime Operations - Coxswain)

transport distribution coastal maritime operations coxswain This coxswain course is for people who want to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work as a coxswain. This coxswains course will teach you to take charge of a vessel less than 12 metres in length and with engines up to 250kW in safety, operating within inshore limits (up to 15 nautical miles from the coast). Evidence of sea time/service on board a vessel will be required to obtain a coxswain Certificate of Competency from the state regulatory maritime body. The next career step for a person who has completed this coxswain TAFE course is to become a Master Class 5. An alternative pathway would be to undertake marine engine driver qualifications commencing at Marine Engine Driver Grade 3. These career options are available upon gaining further sea experience and undertaking additional courses that follow on from coxswain courses.
