TAFE NSW Hunter Institute

Accounting - Diploma

accounting Hunter TAFE's Diploma of Accounting relates to professional accountancy roles within business and the finance sector. Study accounting to learn and apply the accountant requirements needed to provide effective business accounting and book keeping services to large and small business. Practices learnt include tax agent functions, including how to prepare and produce a Business Activity Statement (BAS) for clients, preparing and/or lodging the appropriate form detailing a taxpayer's liabilities, obligations and entitlements, issuing effective advice and customer service and providing client representation when liaising with the Commissioner. Please note this course meets part of the educational component needed to become a tax agent as cited by the Tax and Practitioner's Board, but students are directed to check with the Board for complete registration requirements. Learners should consider which electives they'll need to join professional organisations when they complete this accounting course. A number of financial services career roles lead from the completion of accounting courses.
