Information Technology Networking

This course is broken into four study streams. 1) Cisco Networking Academy CCNA Discovery Course 2) Red Hat Academy Linux Enterprise Core Systems Administration course. 3) Microsoft Academy desktop and server. 4) Business skills in which students gain the skills to work in the IT industry. Students are expected to purchase 5 textbooks/ lab manuals at an approx total cost of $160-00. Booklist will be available at the information session.

Students are expected to have completed Cisco Discovery 1, Red Hat RHA 030 and be familiar with MS Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7.

Students will also need to do independent study outside of class times.

The course is being offered in this 6 month format for students with advanced skills in networking. Applicants MUST have completed a CIII in Information Technology, preferably in Network Administration. Applicants who have completed a different CIII in Information Technology MUST attend class during the first week of the mid year holidays and complete further directed, independent study before the start of the semester.

Class times will vary between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm over 4 days per week. Actual days and times of attendance will be confirmed at the Information Session. Students will need to purchase USB flash drive (at least 4GB) and textbooks to the value of approximately $150.00. Students will also need to do independent study outside of class times. In order to successfully complete this course students require literacy skills equivalent to Year 12 completion
