Situated at the foothills of Hunter Valley wine country, within the grounds of Kurri Kurri TAFE Campus, the Hunter Valley Hotel Academy is the Centre of Excellence in the Hunter Valley for Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management.
The Academy is set in 200 acres of park and native bushland. Student learning and skill development is integrated into the operations of the
Accommodation and
Conference centre. Educational Programs include; Hospitality and Hotel Management, Commercial Cookery, Restaurant Operations, Event Management, Eco-Tourism, Outdoor Recreation and Sommelier | Wine Appreciation.
In 2010 the Hotel Academy won the Hunter Tourism Award for Tourism Education and Training. These facilities provide students with training in a live, operational Hotel and
Conference Centre that includes:
- A fully-equipped commercial kitchen and bakery kitchen
- Training Restaurants, Bar and Café
- Modular conferencing facilities featuring video conferencing and audio visual equipment
- Hotel-style accommodation (4 star self rated)
- Reception and concierge desk
There are a wide range of student support services, including wireless, computer lab, student library and state of the art student lounge, break out rooms, sport and recereation areas. Additionally, an on-site winery and vineyard are adjacent to the Academy to complete the wine tourism/hotel educational precinct.
