TAFE NSW Hunter Institute offers an extensive variety of courses to more than 64,000 students across 15 campuses in the Hunter and Central Coast regions. Campus locations stretch from Gosford in the south to inner city Newcastle and as far north as Muswellbrook in the Upper Hunter. So wherever you are across the region, there's a Hunter TAFE campus not far from you.

Our programs are offered through a range of flexible delivery modes, such as in the workplace, online, face-to-face and a combination of these modes to give you ease of access to training. In fact, supported by strong industry links, more than 30% of education delivery across the TAFE network is outside the classroom.

Our tailored training programs and hands-on approach to vocational education and training can give you the confidence you need to be successful in today's workplace. Hunter TAFE provides globally recognised career pathways for students around the world and provides credit transfer and articulation arrangements with more than 15 Australian universities and colleges. Hunter TAFE even connects industry with potential employees through CareersConnect@Hunter. More than 85% of TAFE graduates find employment or choose further study after studying at TAFE, so we must be doing something right!

Hunter TAFE also offers a range of educational facilities across all campuses such as trade workshops for hairdressing, rigging and scaffolding, and boat and shipbuilding, to name just a few. Other facilities include computer labs, music and performances spaces, art exhibition areas and a fitness centre. Many of Hunter TAFE's range of well maintained and modern facilities are available for hire.

Careers, Counselling and Pathway Services

Hunter TAFE's Careers, Counselling and Pathways Service provides support and assistance in several areas. TAFE Counsellors provide a free, friendly and professional service to enrolled students as well as to people planning to study in TAFE NSW.

Childcare

Carinya is a TAFE Children's Centre located at Newcastle Campus and provides childcare while you study. The centre is partly funded by TAFE and also receives government assistance through Child Care Benefit which subsidises parent's fees.

Disability

At Hunter TAFE the purpose of our Disability Services is to ensure that people with disabilities have access, support and equal opportunities while studying at the Hunter Institute.

Our teacher consultants are able to provide tutorial support, take notes, adjust assessments, interpret, provide assistive technology, modify learning materials, write education plan and help with community contacts.

Gym and massage

Students and staff are invited to use the Massage, Sport and Fitness facilities on Newcastle Campus. Personalised exercise programs, circuit training and massage therapy are provided by students and staff at very modest prices in one of the most modern training facilities in Australia.
